Ross now shipping Vision QMD/X
Ross Video have been supplying vision switchers since 1974 and are now shipping their latest QMD/X range of the Vision family.
The Q being Quattro, offers 4 keyers per ME, however there is the option to purchase 2 keyers and expand to 4 later. 6 DSK’s and the legendary Ross Aux Keyer option take the number of keyers in the QMD-X to a total of 36. The 8RU QMD-X frame provides an amazing 96 inputs and 16 DVE’s. 3RU is the size of the QMD frame, a tiny size but it still provides 4 ME’s and 8 DVE’s. Both the QMD and QMD-X provide 19 ethernet connected clip stores and 19 classes of external interfaces. Clearly the most compact and powerful vision switchers available, retaining conventional switcher workflow, but with vastly simplified macro, snapshot and effect operation. Ross’s fantastic MLE power allows true DVE transitions, for example, Background A with Key 1 + 2, DVE transition to Background B with Key 3, and these keys might also have DVE’s in circuit. Incredible power, but so easy to use. This would take 3 ME’s on other switchers, Ross do it all in one. Dual menus on the touch panel a real aid and haptic knobs, what are these? Say you have a menu with 4 selections, you feel the corresponding step through the selection.
Vision QMD and QMD-X are extremely easy to install and maintain with only the panel, menu and processor and no other boxes. Network connection for control and graphic file exchange is incredibly simple, the processor has an IP, the panel has an IP and these can be put on the house network with no issues to the switcher’s functions. The bottleneck of getting graphics and animations into a switcher is gone as the hard drive in the switcher frame can be seen and accessed on any PC with conventional Windows Explorer. Transfer speed from the hard drive to the memory is incredibly quick and to assist a cache is included with intelligent file housekeeping. Better still, native TGA is used so there is no time consuming conversion and if a graphic is lower resolution it can still be used. If it is a smaller file size, more stills and clips can stay in the cache. This is what switcher ops have been screaming for and Ross QMD/X delivers it. Third party interfacing, VDCP what a headache, but not with Ross - you select the brand/model of device and at last, true plug and play.
The family ranges from 1 to 4MLE in half steps, the big 4MLE panel having 40 cross point buttons. Vision QMD/X can be purchased in SD and later upgraded to multi-format.
